Walmart Gives $61M To California Charities In 2018
The total includes cash and in-kind gifts.

CALIFORNIA — As the traditional giving season of the holidays winds down, Walmart has announced that the company and the Walmart Foundation have donated more than $61 million in cash and in-kind contributions to non-profit organizations in California during 2018. The donations focused on hunger relief, healthy eating, workforce development, and disaster preparedness.
Walmart’s contributions include:
- 32,537,036 pounds of food to local food banks and hunger relief organizations in California, which is the equivalent of 27,114,197 meals
- Walmart associates performed 39,881 hours of volunteer service in their California communities
“During this season of giving, I’m so proud to recognize our Walmart and Sam’s Club associates who volunteered almost 40,000 hours and our stores that donated more than 27 million meals in the state of California,” said Todd Siron, Walmart regional vice president. “We are also continually inspired and motivated by the amazing work of the nonprofit organizations we work within California, and we thank them for all that they do.”

The Walmart Foundation reports that it supports organizations by awarding grants that have a long-lasting, positive impact on communities across the U.S. In addition, Walmart stores, clubs, and distribution centers award cash grants to support local nonprofits. The Walmart Foundation also provides funds for equipment, trucks and logistical expertise to support non-profit organizations to extend their reach and impact and help those in need.
