• Pleasant Hill Hospice Workers Begin Weeklong Strike Over Layoffs, Staffing Cuts (claycord.com) — Hospice East Bay workers in Pleasant Hill have launched a weeklong strike over planned layoffs, staffing cuts, and alleged labor violations, raising concerns about care for roughly 1,200 patients and families. The union says 21 full-time jobs, including the executive director, could be eliminated October 16, while management insists the hospice will stay open with contingency staff and is bargaining in good faith.
