• East Bay Grief Counselors Strike to Protest Layoffs and 'Protect the Soul of Hospice' (kqed.org) — Hospice East Bay staff, whose headquarters are in Pleasant Hill, have launched a seven-day strike over planned layoffs of social workers, chaplains, and nurses, and cuts to grief programs. Workers warn that rising caseloads and discontinued services could diminish compassionate end-of-life care for local families, even as state regulators had expected bereavement and music therapy programs to be maintained.
