150 Head Of Cattle Mooove Down Main Street In Pleasanton: WATCH

A small group of animal rights protesters followed along with the procession carrying signs and chanting.

PLEASANTON, CA — More than 150 head of cattle made their way down Main Street in Pleasanton this morning as part of the opening day celebration for the 2017 Alameda County Fair. Hundreds from all over the East Bay lined the streets of downtown Pleasanton to watch the authentic cattle drive as it passed through the city center once known as the "the most desperate town in the West."

The drive started behind the fairgrounds and made its way down Main Street to Bernal Avenue, finally ending up back home at the fairgrounds. The cows were herded by a large group of cowboys and cowgirls and a couple of plucky cattle dogs. A small group of animal rights protesters followed along with the procession carrying signs and chanting.

The Alameda County Fair runs June 16 to July 9 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.
