As 2013 wound down, we vowed that 2014 would be different.
“2014 will be the best year of my life!” Sound familiar?
“I am going to start eating better, and exercising more often.” How about this one?

We vow to steer clear of the drive through, and to put our health and fitness as a top priority for the year. Well it’s April. How many of us are still going strong on our journey to making 2014 the “best year ever?”
I hate the word “Resolution”, for the simple fact that resolution has become synonymous with quitting. Too often, people set out to accomplish great things only to run into adversity and quit, never fully reaching their maximum potential.

If you are still motivated and determined to reach your goals, GREAT FOR YOU! Keep it up.
If you have fallen off of the wagon, that’s ok, hopefully I can help.
I would like to use this blog to outline a plan for SUCCESS within your fitness journey!
1) Goal Setting
Goal setting is extremely important for finding success on your fitness journey. We are a very impatient society. Too often people want to run before they walk. Breaking down your big goal into smaller more manageable goals, will allow you to celebrate your successes, along your journey. More importantly, smaller goals that are clearly defined will help to avoid frustrations and success with smaller goals will help to keep you motivated. The most important aspect to goal setting is belief, you must believe in your goals. Quite frankly, if you don’t believe in yourself no one will believe in you.
2) Commitment
Too often people fall short of their fitness goals because they don’t see results right away. They become impatient with their “lack of progress” and quit before their progress begins to show. Start something and stick with it! The easiest way to stay committed is through structure. Winston Churchill stated, “He who fails to plan is planning to fail.” A solid structure will allow you to prioritize your goals. Prioritizing your goals will lead to better decision making, and overall better commitment.
3) Resolve
The journey to the top of Mt. Everest is no simple task. But the sense of accomplishment given by getting to the top is well worth the struggle. Similarly, if your fitness goals are easily attainable, then you need to reevaluate your goals. No goal worth attaining should be easy to come by. Developing resolve during your journey will be crucial to staying on track. Pushing through the hard times will build character. Developing habits will take the “inconvenience” out of your fitness journey. Holding yourself to a higher standard, ditching the excuses, and pushing through will not only make your stronger physically but mentally as well!
4) Accountability
Very few people can embark on their fitness journey alone. It takes a special person, who is extremely intrinsically motivated, to achieve their goals alone. For the rest of us, we need a solid support system to hold us accountable. The most obvious place to find accountability is either through a training partner, friends and family, or a fitness coach.
In Conclusion
No journey worth accomplishing should be easy! I order to achieve success you must have clearly defined goals accompanied by a solid plan. You must be committed to achieving results. However, it isn’t going to be easy to embark on a journey by yourself. Developing a solid support system will only help to keep you on track to success.
