$47M Educational Options Center Breaks Ground In Pleasanton

The new center will comprise three new buildings to support Village High School, Pleasanton Virtual Academy, and Adult Transition Options.

PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton leaders gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Educational Options Center, a $47 million project to support Village High School, Pleasanton Virtual Academy, and Adult Transition Options.

The project, which is funded by Bond Measure I, will replace deteriorating facilities with three new one-story buildings. The buildings will feature a number of flexible learning environments for non-traditional students, including:

  • Flexible classrooms and collaborative learning spaces
  • A multi-use student center
  • Culinary arts and catering kitchen
  • Makerspace and science classrooms
  • Adult Transition Life Skills training spaces to support independent living and career preparation
  • Student support spaces, including counseling, staff offices, and administrative areas
  • Accessible pathways, landscaping, outdoor gathering and learning spaces, and other site improvements
  • A new parking lot, finished walkways, and bicycle parking

The project is estimated to complete in fall 2027.

“This project represents an important investment in students whose learning journeys may follow different pathways. The new Educational Options Center will provide thoughtfully designed spaces that support personalized learning, life-skills development, and strong connections with staff and peers” said Heather Pereira, director of Educational Options.

“For many years, our district has envisioned creating a purpose-built campus for Educational Options programs. With this groundbreaking, that vision is becoming a reality. The new Educational Options Center reflects our commitment to modern learning environments intentionally designed to support student belonging,personalized pathways, and future readiness,” said Deputy Superintendent Ed Diolazo.
