8th Grade Graduation: Pleasanton Poem Of The Day
Smrithi Smiram read the following poem at her 8th grade graduation ceremony in June.
PLEASANTON, CA —
Resilience
This year has been like no other
So many things to discover
Our promotion is special and let me be specific
Together we are close to overcoming a pandemic
There are so many things ahead
Yet so many things I left unsaid
The past two years have certainly been strange
We have all been through such a drastic change
As eighth-graders, we have been back in school
for the final year of middle school
We learned
English, French, Spanish
Art, Music, Computers,
History, Math, and Science
But above all resilience
The hardships that we overcome
Make us strong, not numb
Our inner strength is what matters
So let’s climb the ladder
To success
What I did expect
Did not turn out perfect
But what I learned is
Experiences are meant to shape us
Not shake us
Life is not a contest to celebrate only the successes
Let’s celebrate together our united progress
This chapter is about to end
But another is going to unfold
