PLEASANTON, CA — More than $450,000 was raised for Hope Hospice at the inaugural Castlewood Plays for Hope, a three-day multi-game community fundraiser held Aug. 28-30 at The Club at Castlewood in Pleasanton.

Almost 300 Castlewood members and community participants competed in golf, pickleball, tennis, bocce, and golf skills challenges, which culminated in a community dinner and live auction. Castlewood and Hope have partnered since 2015, when they launched the Hope 100 Golf Marathon in honor of a Castlewood golf professional who received care from Hope Hospice. The tournament honored both the tenth anniversary of the Hope 100 Golf Marathon and the hundredth anniversary of the Club at Castlewood.

Funds raised from Castlewood Plays for Hope will go toward hospice, palliative care, grief support, dementia education and resources for family caregivers.

"We are incredibly grateful to our partners at The Club at Castlewood and to everyone who participated, volunteered, sponsored, and supported the remarkable weekend," said Skelly Wingard, CEO of By the Bay Health, a home health care service of which Hope Hospice is an affiliate. "This partnership strengthens Hope Hospice's ability to remain a trusted community resource."

"As we celebrate Castlewood's 100th anniversary, we wanted this milestone to be about more than looking back at our history," said Mark Mullaney, president of the Board of Directors at The Club at Castlewood. "Castlewood Plays for Hope offered our members and the broader community an opportunity to come together, give back, and make a meaningful impact."
