PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton will still have an oasis, but it's moving across the street.
Oasis Restaurant & Wine Lounge, a Mediterranean restaurant currently located on 780 Main Street, will move from its current location to a 4,000-square-foot space in the Pleasanton Hotel, adjacent to Rubys & Roses. Wednesday will be Oasis's last day at its current location. It will reopen inside the Pleasanton Hotel in early November, according to owner Sadaf Shaghasi.
"The move is exciting because it is the same cuisine that people love for the past 22 years but yet it's going to be in such a new environment and also a building that has so much history," Shaghasi said.
Shaghasi, who owns both Oasis and Rubys & Roses, said she was approached by the building owner about opening a restaurant in the location, which she said has been vacant for roughly four years. The new space will offer a historic bar, expanded parking, and an atmosphere that Shaghasi expects might feel both cozier and livelier.
The move has been in the works for about a year, and the city of Pleasanton approved the move about five months ago, Shaghasi said. Crews are currently working on renovating the kitchen, installing drapes and chandeliers, and installing new paint and lighting.
"We wanted to keep the Mediterranean vibe," Shaghasi said. They will also be keeping the same Mediterranean menu, which includes a mix of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Afghan cuisines, including chicken and beef kabobs, mantoo dumplings, aushak tortellini and its signature pumpkin borani, made with sautéed butternut squash and garlic-yogurt sauce.
Oasis also offers a selection of wines, beers, and cocktails, which will soon be enjoyed at the hotel's historic wraparound bar, which can accommodate up to 20 people, more than at the current location.
The new location will also offer a parking lot with up to 50 spots, another large jump. It won't be able to offer the extensive patio seating of the current location, but Shaghasi said guests planning outdoor events can coordinate with Rubys & Roses.
Shaghasi said that 780 Main Street will be occupied by an Indian restaurant. A fictitious business name statement filed with Alameda County identifies the planned restaurant as INDY Restaurant & Lounge, registered to California corporation Lunch Box US.
