PLEASANTON, CA — A man wanted on multiple felony warrants fled Pleasanton police Friday evening and eluded an extensive search involving aircraft and K-9 units, according to the Pleasanton Police Department.
At approximately 5:38 p.m. Friday, Pleasanton police received a Flock alert for a vehicle associated with a person wanted on felony warrants, according to PPD Captain Kurt Schlehuber. Officers located the vehicle, which they say was identified by the Campbell Police Department in connection with an earlier investigation, and was subject to a 30-day impound.
Officers found the unoccupied vehicle in a local hotel parking lot, and linked it to an adult male wanted on multiple warrants, including felony warrants from California and out of state. As officers worked to confirm the individual's identity and lodging information, the suspect entered the vehicle and fled, despite officer commands to stop.
The vehicle traveled through the Val Vista Park area before the suspect abandoned it and fled on foot. Pleasanton officers established a perimeter, and conducted an extensive search with assistance from the CHP Air Operations Unit, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office and Dublin Police Services K-9 personnel, and additional patrol resources.
Police also issued a Nixle advisory at 8:16 p.m. Friday announcing that police activity near Mason Street and Inglewood Drive had concluded and residents could resume normal activity.
The suspect was not located, and remains at-large as of Monday.
The vehicle was impounded, and the investigation remains ongoing. Police submitted charges to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office for reckless evading of a police officer.
Pleasanton police said Monday they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the Pleasanton community.
