Attempted Murder Charges Filed In Connection To Pleasanton Shooting, Livermore Machete Attack

A 25-year-old man is charged with three counts of attempted murder in connection with two December attacks in the Tri-Valley.

PLEASANTON, CA — A 25-year-old man is charged with three total counts of attempted murder in relation to a Christmas Eve shooting in Pleasanton and a machete attack three days later in Livermore.

Hugo Peraza-Leveron, 25, pleaded not guilty to several felony charges in relation to the two incidents, including attempted murder causing great bodily injury, and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, according to Alameda County Superior Court records.

He has also denied all charging enhancements, including acting with extreme violence or cruelty, constituting a threat to public safety, and causing great bodily harm to a vulnerable victim.

He is currently being held at Santa Rita Jail without bail, according to official records.

The first incident took place on Thursday, Dec. 24 at 1:51 a.m., when Peraza-Leveron allegedly shot a man in his head and leg at the Civic Square Apartments on Bernal Avenue, leaving him comatose and in critical condition, according to the Pleasanton Police Department. Pleasanton police have not publicly said how Peraza-Leveron was identified as a suspect for this case.

Three days later, Peraza-Leveron was allegedly holding two machetes at 2:18 a.m. on Cross Road in rural, unincorporated Livermore, according to reports from Pleasanton Weekly and the Bay Area News Group. Two residents reportedly went outside to see why their dogs were barking, and saw Peraza-Leveron, who allegedly swung at them three times and threatened to kill them. Both victims survived, despite blades of the machete coming close to one of their faces, according to a Pleasanton Weekly summary of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office report.

Peraza-Leveron was arrested at 5 a.m. about four miles away.
