Baker Leads Sbranti in Closely Watched Assembly Race
The District 16 seat was held by Joan Buchanan, who has termed out

Dublin resident Catharine Baker, who is running against former Dublin Mayor Tim Sbranti, is ahead in the race for District 16 Assembly. The district includes Lamorinda, Walnut Creek, Danville, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore.
As of this morning, with all of the precincts reporting, Democrat Sbranti had 43,050 votes and Republican Baker garnered 46,399, according to the California Secretary of State website. Sbranti has termed out and City Councilman David Haubert was elected mayor by Dublin voters. Absentee and provisional ballots for both Alameda and Contra Costa County are still be counted for all races.

Outgoing District 16 Assemblymember Joan Buchanan (D-Alamo), who has also termed out, endorsed Sbranti early on in the race.
