Boys Lacrosse: De La Salle Comeback Ends Foothill's Title Hopes in 2OT
Spartans upset top-seeded Foothill 11-10
Through three quarters of Friday's North Coast Section boys lacrosse championship, Foothill High looked poised to win its first title in school history.
The Falcons took an 8-4 lead into the final quarter before things went awry.
In a span of less than five minutes, De La Salle scored five-straight goals and eventually won 11-10 on a Chris Pereira goal in double-overtime.

"We had a tough time with the face-offs in the fourth and it didn't seem like we had the ball for more than 10 seconds at a time the whole period," Foothill coach Bob McManus said. "You can't do that against a good team like De La Salle."
Starting goalie Ben Krebs was knocked out of the game with a concussion with six minutes, 38 seconds left and was replaced by sophomore Patrick Shevelson, who came up big down the stretch to keep Foothill in the game.

After Scott Wheaton gave Foothill a 10-9 led with 3:04 left in regulation the top-seeded Falcons liked their chances, but Pereira snuck a shot past Shevelson with 10.1 seconds left to force overtime.
The teams traded a few good opportunities in the first overtime, but nothing came of them.
With 2:46 left in the second overtime, Pereira came with a lefty shot to win the game for De La Salle — a team Foothill beat twice during the regular season.
"I was expecting him to go high, but he snuck it low in the corner," Shevelson said. "There was nothing I could do, it was a great shot."
The disappointing loss ended the best Foothill season in school history.
"We had a great season, it was the best team we've ever had," McManus said.
Several seniors will attempt to play college lacrosse next year, including Broc Schall (Arizona State), Ross Porter (Cal Poly), Michael Lambrecht (U.C. Santa Barbara) and Wheaton (Santa Clara).
The Falcons finish the year ranked No. 3 in the state and No. 31 in the nation by laxpower.com — a spot ahead of De La Salle in each poll.
