District Attorney Instructs Prosecutors to Be Lenient On Immigrants

Instead of deportation, O'Malley wants to keep the immigrants in jail longer for the tax payer to feed him, cloth him, provide for his dental, vision and medical needs, then turn him loose.

A new policy has apparently been dictated to Alameda County prosecutors to consider filing lesser charges for some legal immigrants in an effort to avoid mandatory deportation.

The Oakland Tribune reports that District Attorney Nancy O'Malley has instructed prosecutors to consider lesser charges in misdemeanor cases where federal law dictates mandatory expulsion from the United States.

The policy would allow legal immigrants convicted of petty thefts or low level drug cases to avoid deportation in exchange for longer jail sentences or other terms.

Under federal law, immigrants who have not yet obtained U.S. citizenship are forcibly deported automatically after certain convictions.

I wonder what District Attorney O'Malley will have to say when one of those immigrants let off on a lesser charge, turns around later and commits murder or rapes someone's daughter.

O'Malley wants to keep the immigrant in jail for longer sentences so the taxpayer can feed him, cloth him, provide his dental, vision and medical needs, than turn him loose into an innocent unsuspecting community.

Immigrants are welcomed into this country with the understanding that they have agreed to live within the community, follow the laws of the community and be a good citizen.

If the immigrant violates the law, breaks the agreement to be a good law abiding citizen and is arrested for a crime, he should be deported under the mandatory deportation law of the federal government.

There are millions of legal immigrants in this country who have lived within the community, abided by the laws, worked hard, purchased a home, raised their children, pay taxes and contribute to the ongoing betterment of the community.
