Endangered Pleasures
Spending time with friends, family is losing its importance in the fast-paced hectic lifestyle of today. The blog reiterates the importance of giving each other the priceless gift of time.
Refusing to concede to any urge that Lady Desire graciously offers us, we choose to obey the rules, meet deadlines and pay bills that come like clockwork.
Meeting old friends; singing in the shower; capturing a moment in all its beauty on a canvas or on a picture; camping in free time - all seem like endangered pleasures today when everyone is shut off into their own world.
If Lady Desire was obeyed at times the troubled, therapy-dependent world would not experience the void of being in a "crowd with no company". These simple yet significant pleasures that are slowly slipping by in the humdrum of life, remind of what Dickens wrote in a 'A Tale of Two Cities': these are "the best of times", "the worst of times", "the age of wisdom" and "the age of foolishness", the epoch of "belief" and the epoch of "incredulity".
It is our business to preserve these simple joys of life and pass them on to our next generation as we remain busy making a better living. It is our business to look not only to the immediate effects but the ultimate repercussions of our daily conduct that eventually affects our children.
