Coroner Identifies Driver Who Crashed into Water Truck
The man was traveling at a high rate of speed before he crashed, CHP officials said.

A man who died in a vehicle crash Saturday morning in Pleasanton has been identified as Patterson resident Javier Rodriguez, 44, officials with the Alameda County coroner’s bureau said. The crash occurred at about 6:22 a.m. on southbound Interstate Highway 680, south of Stoneridge Drive, California Highway Patrol officials said.
A person driving a water truck was slowing because of traffic and Rodriguez failed to notice the slowing truck, CHP officials said. Rodriguez crashed a 2007 Nissan into the back of a 1989 Peterbuilt, which trapped him in the Nissan where he died, according to CHP officials. Rodriguez was traveling at a high rate of speed before he crashed, CHP officials said. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts, according to CHP officials.
The officials said they made no arrests.
