100-Acre Brush Fire Burns In Sunol
Firefighters doused a fast-moving brush fire that broke out near Sheridan Road in Sunol Saturday afternoon.
SUNOL, CA — Alameda County Fire Department firefighters battled a 100-acre fire in the Sunol area near Sheridan Road Saturday afternoon
The blaze was first reported at about 1:50 p.m. Saturday in the 7500 block of Sheridan Road. Smoke from the blaze could be seen for miles. Cal Fire crews called in air support for water drops and to drop fire retardant along the road to protect homes in the area.
In less than an hour, the fast-moving grass fire had spread to 75 acres. By 3:30 p.m. about 100 acres had burned. By early evening the fire was contained, and crews remained on scene to mop up hotspots.
