City of Pleasanton​ Announces the 'Magic and Comedy of Ryan Kane'

Pleasanton, Calif. - Reigning San Francisco Stage Magic champion Ryan Kane returns to Pleasanton’s Firehouse Arts Center. Back by popular demand on the heels of his sell-out show in March, Kane brings his trademark comedy and magic to the Tri-Valley on Saturday, August 20, at 8:00 p.m. Known for his humor, high energy, and original magic, Kane performs at venues from New York to Las Vegas, and his prestige corporate clients include Microsoft, HP, Intel, and Louis Vuitton.

Reserved seating tickets are $15 - $25. Tickets can be purchased online here, by calling 925-931-4848, and in person at the Box Office, 4444 Railroad Avenue, Pleasanton. Box Office hours are Wednesday - Friday 12:00 noon-6:00pm and Saturdays 10:00am-4:00pm, and two hours prior to the performance if not sold out.

Although a self-described “contemporary magician,” Kane says the art of illusion hasn’t really changed much in the last 500 years or so, despite technology. He elaborates: “People know so much… but absolutely anyone can be fooled. The more we learn about neurology and the brain, the more we understand how susceptible we are to deception.”

Kane notes that people still want to be floored and witness something they’ve never seen before – to be wowed. “I don’t think that’ll ever change,” he adds, “Ever.”

Ryan Kane began learning magic in 1995 when he was 6 years old, and spent a good chunk of his childhood grasping the fundamentals of the sophisticated and complex craft of illusion. In high school and college he studied theatre to beef up his stage skills.

As a young teen, Ryan used his magic and engaging personality to gather and entertain audiences on the streets of Old Sacramento. The lessons learned from those challenging early street performances are evident today in the quick wit and charm he demonstrates as a featured performer at casinos in Reno and at the top tourist destination in San Francisco, Pier 39.
