City to Unveil Five New Electric Car Charging Stations Downtown

The city of Pleasanton will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23 to unveil five electric vehicle charging stations installed in the downtown area.

They include three chargers at the City Hall campus located at 200 Old Bernal Avenue, one charger at the at 603 Main Street, located in the back parking lot on Division Street, and one charger at the , 5353 Sunol Boulevard, in the left rear parking lot.

The charging stations were funded through an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grant through Coloumb Technologies.

Each of the top-of-the-line commercial grade Level Two EV charging stations is valued at $3,000 to $4,000.

The stations can fully charge a vehicle in three to eight hours.

The city is offering free vehicle charges until April 1. After that time, customers can load or link funds to a Chargepass card that allows them to unlock and activate the charging stations.
