CONCORD, CA — The National Day of Service and Remembrance is observed annually on September 11th to honor the lives lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

It is a day when Americans of all ages and backgrounds are invited to join and lead community service projects to honor the lives and service of those we lost on that day.

On this day, we cross divides, differences, and ideologies to serve with neighbors and strangers alike to build important bridges in communities.

To commemorate the National Day of Service, approximately 50 volunteers from various faiths and community groups participated by planting and beautifying the median strip on the corner of Grant Street and Olivera Road in Concord. Thanks to City Councilmember Carlyn Obringer, who organized this event.

It was a wonderful opportunity to beautify and enhance this public space.
