The Dog Days at Stoneridge Creek

The Puppy Pals group is changing lives at the senior living community

Jewel, Riley and Angel, three residents at Stoneridge Creek retirement community, can often be found enjoying one of the senior living community’s most luxurious amenities - an on-site dog park. The park boasts wide open spaces for running, water fountains, fire hydrants and plenty of dog toys, which are all the indulgences the community needs, according to Stoneridge Creek’s furriest friends.

Dog owners Paula Brown, Jerry Bowling and Deanna Mitchell are just a few of the many who have formed the Puppy Pals club, a group of residents and their best friends taking full advantage of the community’s outdoor feature. In addition to afternoons spent together at the dog park with their friends, both two- and four-legged, these residents have even known to put on a puppy parade to show off their companions.

Amanda Kerr, Stoneridge Creek’s life enrichment manager, says the Puppy Pals Club was started when the community first opened in 2013 to help residents meet one another, and now it’s become a cornerstone of life at Stoneridge Creek.

Aside from the dog park, the dog owners have formed a small, pet-friendly community within Stoneridge Creek, and residents who don’t have dogs enjoy seeing the Dobermans, Westies and German Shepherds at play in the park and around the greater community.
