Driver In Vineyard Avenue Crash Had Been Drinking In Livermore, Police Say
The driver and her passenger have been hospitalized with serious injuries since the collision.

PLEASANTON, CA: Investigators are pursuing a felony charge against a driver involved in a Sunday night collision that sent her passenger to the hospital, police officials said.
According to Pleasanton Police Sergeant Joseph Leonardo, investigators determined that the women had allegedly been drinking alcoholic beverages at Livermore establishments prior to the collision. Both the driver and passenger, whose identities have not yet been released, have been hospitalized at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley with serious injuries since the crash.
During the collision, the passenger was ejected from the vehicle and was lying on the ground, while the driver was pinned inside the car, fire officials said. Emergency crews took about 20 minutes to extricate the female driver from the vehicle.
The crash, which occurred around 8:30 p.m. Sunday near 1200 Machado Place, knocked out the power to more than 500 PG&E customers, including a fire station, and closed Vineyard Avenue in both directions between Bernal and Isabel avenues for hours.
Leonardo said the driver was not arrested but a felony charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, causing injury, will be pursued.
According to Leonardo, the collision investigation is ongoing.
