Police said the man and woman from Hayward were driving a stolen car during the incident.

PLEASANTON, CA — Two Hayward residents accused of stealing a package off of a porch in Pleasanton last weekend were arrested, police said. A vigilant neighbor alerted police after witnessing the alleged crime on Sunday.
The woman, later identified as 25-year-old Hayward resident Rajdeep Kaur, allegedly stole a package off of a porch on Junipero Street. Kaur was seen getting into a black, 4-door Mercedes Benz driven by a man, who was later identified as Benjamin Lal, 26, of Hayward.
While searching the area, officers found the car, which was later determined to be stolen, and the suspects, on San Carlos Way. They were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and conspiracy to commit a crime. Both were booked into the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.

Police offer tips to help keep package deliveries safe:
- Track your package (many places allow you to sign up for alerts), note the anticipated delivery date and ask a trusted neighbor to pick it up.
- Consider using an Amazon Locker if you are an Amazon shopper. There are several locations in town.
- If possible, have packages delivered to work.
- Install security devices in your front porch area or wherever you accept deliveries. This can be theft deterrent boxes to place/lock deliveries in or cameras that capture activity.
