Eagle Scout Award for Raman Arora

Eagle Project distributed 200 Emergency Kits to Senior Citizens

Raman Arora has qualified to become an Eagle Scout and received his award at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on August 31, 2023. Raman is the son of Ritesh Arora and Gopi Gupta of Dublin. He is a member of Troop 904 sponsored by the John Knox Presbyterian Church. Raman appreciates the help and dedication of his Scoutmaster, Euan Ramsay.

Raman has been active in Scouting and has held leadership positions of Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Scribe, and Patrol Leader. Some of the things Raman loved about scouting were making new friends, having fun at campouts, participating at National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), and developing valuable leadership skills through the guidance of his scoutmasters. Two of his favorite merit badges were Entrepreneurship and Citizenship in the Nation, the Entrepreneurship badge enabled him to explore his creative side and the Citizenship in Nation badge allowed him to become familiar with the core principles that shaped our nation, which he found to be quite interesting.

For his Eagle project, Raman created and distributed 200 emergency kits to senior citizens at a Pleasanton senior apartment complex, thanks to Cheryl Dickinson for her help. He heard that the seniors were not prepared for an evacuation, and it was not a priority to assemble their own emergency kits. Raman spent many hours fundraising, planning, and designing the emergency kits. He also consulted an Alameda 211 Officer, Lars Eric Holm, to understand the necessary components of these kits and how to make them lightweight and contain the most important essentials. After planning, he gathered a team of over ten scouts and over the course of the project, he led two build days where they assembled the emergency kits. On distribution day, Raman gave a presentation to over 70 seniors about the importance of emergency preparedness. Including his own planning, the project took around 220 hours.
