East Bay Congressman to Help Pack Shipments of Medical Supplies Headed for Ebola Patients in Africa

Congressman Eric Swalwell will be in San Leandro on Thursday to volunteer with non-profit organization MedShare at their East Bay facility.

U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (CA-15) will volunteer with the medical non-profit organization, MedShare, tomorrow, Thursday, October 30 at 10:00 AM. He will visit their San Leandro facility and join East Bay volunteers to pack shipments of medical supplies for Ebola-stricken countries in Africa.

MedShare collects surplus medical supplies and equipment from hospitals, distributors and manufacturers and redistributes them to qualified healthcare facilities in developing countries.

Swalwell, a member of the Homeland Security Committee, participated in a committee hearing in Dallas on Oct 10 about how the federal government is working with state and local officials to prevent a major outbreak of Ebola in the United States. He also has organized two meetings with local hospital administrators and the CDC to discuss coordination in the case of an Ebola patient in the East Bay.
