The Elves of Pleasanton Are Spreading Holiday Cheer

Stoneridge Creek senior living community woodworking shop works on holiday gifts for friends and family

Step into the woodworking shop at the Stoneridge Creek senior living community, and you’ll discover machines buzzing and screwdrivers twirling in the hands of busy ‘elves.’ Handmade gifts from, wine racks to birdhouses are taking shape as dozens of seniors craft some holiday cheer for their family and friends.

Throughout the year, the seniors who frequent the woodworking shop make, repair and replace items for more than 600 residents living in the Stoneridge Creek senior living community. Their services are completely free.

Most of the tools that fill the shelves in the 20’x34’ workshop were donated by residents who wanted a home for their favorite Craftsman tools after moving into the Pleasanton community. Resident Arnold Joyal is the man behind the shop, and he welcomes anyone who wants to join the club regardless of their experience or age.
