The City of Pleasanton will host a day of information, activity and fun at the second annual Family Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 21, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Pleasanton Library.
The event will include something for everyone and features booths from local non-profit groups with environmentally friendly information and activities.
A ‘Green Street Mock City Bike Rodeo’ is also on tap, hosted by the East Bay Bicycle Coalition and Cycles for Change. It will provide parents and children of all ages the opportunity better develop their road awareness and safety skills. Participants may bring their own bike or borrow one while on the course.

Visitors can also watch bio-degradable sidewalk chalk art being created by local middle and high school students, who will use an Earth Day theme. A variety of Earth Day crafts including pinecone birdseed feeders will also be available to participants.
Bay Area ‘Kindie” rocker Andy Z, a veteran of the popular Sippy Cups group, wraps up the day with a special high energy, all-ages-welcome concert at 3:00 p.m. in the large meeting room. Free concert tickets will be distributed in the children’s area beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Sunday rounds out the weekend with a final environmental program for children ages 5 and up entitled “Beasts in Our Backyards” at 2 p.m. in the large meeting room. This is a close-up look at some of the amazing wild animals that we call neighbors in Northern California. Free tickets will be distributed in the children’s area beginning at 1:30 p.m.
