Pleasanton Police Department Teen Academy

The Pleasanton Police Department is accepting applications from Pleasanton youth for its annual summer Teen Police Academy, a two-week program beginning June 24th.  This will be the eighth Teen Academy class the Department has presented and a limited number of openings are available for enrollment.

The Teen Academy goal is to develop stronger partnerships between the Pleasanton Police Department and youth.  Participants will have a unique opportunity to learn about law enforcement procedures from the officers themselves, including such topics as Patrol Procedures, Dispatch Communications, SWAT, Narcotics, Investigations, Juvenile Traffic Issues, K-9's, Evidence Collection and Animal Services.  The Academy is offered free of charge to local high school students, between the ages of 14 and 18.  This program consists of seven consecutive classes, held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Classes will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on the following dates: June 24, 29, 30, and July 1, 6, 7, and will conclude with a graduation dinner on Thursday, July 8h, 2010.

Interested Pleasanton teens can obtain an application, as well as additional information, by coming into the front counter of the Police Department or by calling Academy Coordinator Officer Ken McNeill at (925) 931-5233.
