Fire Burns 30+ Acres, Causes Evacuations And Closures In Pleasanton
A fire that broke out on Stanley Boulevard Saturday afternoon resulted in evacuations in and around Shadow Cliffs Regional Park.
PLEASANTON, CA — Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area, Pleasanton BMX Park, and residential areas around Vineyard Avenue were evacuated due to a fire that broke out Saturday afternoon, according to Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Battalion Chief Craig Berchtold.
The fire started for unknown reasons near the intersection of Stanley Boulevard and Valley Avenue at 4:18 p.m. Saturday, Berchtold said. About 30 minutes later, the department evacuated the Shadow Cliffs parking lot, which counted around 250 cars. Pleasanton BMX Park and a senior development along Vineyard Avenue were also evacuated.
Support from the Pleasanton Police Department, Alameda County Fire, Cal Fire, CHP, Livermore Police Department, and Alameda County Sherriff’s Office helped contain the fire to 30 acres by about 6:40 p.m. A portion of Stanley Boulevard was closed in both directions until 7:45 p.m., according to Teri Yan of the Pleasanton Police Department.

No structural damage or injuries were reported, according to LPFD and PPD.
Just as that fire was ending, a two-alarm vegetation fire broke out along 580 near Altamont Pass, and some crews had to be released to help fight that fire. That fire spread to 80 acres before it was contained at around 8:30 p.m.

Crews from other stations came in to help assist with the Stanley Fire. Earlier that morning, LPFD crews were also helping with a vegetation fire and structure fire that broke out on Kelso Road in unincorporated Alameda County. That fire broke out in a house on the 15000 block of Kelso Road, and turned into a 27-acre vegetation fire, according to ACFD spokesperson Cheryl Hurd.
