Free Prom Dresses For Girls In Need At Pleasanton Nonprofit
Tri-Valley teens who can't afford the expense of a pricey prom dress, heels and accessories can sign up for an appointment at this shop.
PLEASANTON, CA — Prom isn't cheap. Local nonprofit Prom Dress Pop Up Shop seeks to alleviate some of the financial stress that comes with prom by offering free dresses, shoes and accessories to teens in need.
Nonprofit founder Carly Glasson, 18, received the 2019 Simon Youth Foundation Scholarship, which is awarded to young people near a Simon property — in this case, Stoneridge Shopping Center, the mall said in a statement. The nonprofit has collected more than 200 dresses.

“For many teens, shopping for a school dance is a rite of passage," Michele Osgood, director of marketing and business development at the mall. We’re excited to help give teens that may not get to go to the mall a real shopping experience."
Glasson's younger sister, Bella, is now overseeing the project as her sister attends college.

The mall is again partnering with Prom Dress Pop Up and offering teens the opportunity to try on dresses and pick a prom outfit from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on March 14, 15, 21 and 22. Appointments can be made here or by emailing promdresspopup@gmail.com.
Anyone seeking to donate dresses can drop off gowns at Simon Guest Services in the Stoneridge Shopping Center.
