Fundraiser for Little Leaguer Recovering After Collapsing on Baseball Field

Following his collapse, Dillon O'Leary was comatose. The community is rallying to help pay for his medical expenses as he rehabilitates.

Members of the Pleasanton community are rallying to raise money to help the family of a Little Leaguer who remains hospitalized after collapsing before a baseball game in May of 2015. Dillon O’Leary, who was carried off of the field by his father, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was airlifted to Oakland Children’s Hospital and placed in intensive care.

O’Leary, a player with the Pleasanton Foothill Little League, had been vomiting and complaining of a headache prior to his collapse. Doctors put O’Leary, 11, in a medically induced coma for the swelling in his brain. O’Leary is out of intensive care, but is still hospitalized as he relearns the basics. While O’Leary works to rehabilitate from the devastating collapse, members of the Tri-Valley community have collaborated to support the O’Leary family through fundraisers.

“With a tremendous ‘superhero’ spirit, Dillon has made it out of intensive care and has begun to re-learn how to speak, eat, and dress himself. He’s made tremendous progress, but still needs lots of support and rehab work to for his condition to continue improving. Please join us for this wonderful community support to help Dillon and his family cover his medical expenses and support.”
