• CAIR-SFBA, CAIR Action, MCC East Bay to Host Dublin, Pleasanton Candidate Forum Sunday (cair.com) — Local voters can meet Pleasanton and Dublin candidates face-to-face at a community forum this Sunday, Aug. 23, from 2-4 p.m. at MCC East Bay on West Las Positas Boulevard in Pleasanton. The nonpartisan event features city council and school board hopefuls, moderated discussion, and audience Q&A, giving Pleasanton residents a direct chance to press candidates on November election issues.
   

• Death announcements for the week of Aug. 21, 2026 (jweekly.com) — Family and friends are remembering Dr. David Sander Bloom, who spent his later years living at Stoneridge Creek in Pleasanton and joined Congregation Beth Emek after a long medical career in Marin. He passed away July 27 at age 89, leaving a legacy of devoted family life, community service, and support for Jewish causes. A celebration of life is planned for October in San Rafael.
