'Game Of Thrones' Actor To Appear At 2018 Scottish Highland Games

It is time for caber tossing, bagpipes, and whiskey. GOT fans won't want to miss this the 2018 Scottish Highland Games in Pleasanton.

PLEASANTON, CA — The 153rd Scottish Highland Gathering & Games return to the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton this weekend. The “World’s Strongest Man of 2018,” actor Hafthor Bjornsson — known to “Game of Thrones” fans as “The Mountain” — will join Scottish actor Gary Lewis to sign autographs during the games.

The annual event, which is hosted by the The Caledonian Club of San Francisco, features Scottish traditions and dramatic athletic competitions including caber tossing, Dunsmuir dancers and fantastic fiddlers. Those who attend the popular event will be treated to Celtic bands, bagpipes, plenty of shopping and a chance to try a wide variety of whiskies.

The first games were held in 1866 in San Francisco. The 2018 games will be held on Sept. 1 and 2nd. The fairgrounds are located at 4501 Pleasanton Ave.
