Coroner IDs Girl Found Unresponsive In Castlewood Pool
The Alameda County coroner's bureau said the 8-year-old died this morning.
PLEASANTON, CA — A girl who was found unresponsive in the pool at Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton Sunday afternoon has died, Alameda County Sheriff's Office officials said. A lifeguard found the 8-year-old "submerged and not moving" in the pool located at 707 Country Club Circle at about 2:25 p.m.
The lifeguard began CPR until firefighters arrived. Ann Cai, who was a guest the country club, was taken to a nearby hospital before being transferred to the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland in critical condition.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office said they are investigating the drowning calling it a "tragic accident." Castlewood management is cooperating with the investigation, officials said.
