Governor Signs Bill Allowing Gravely Ill to Die

Before she died, Brittany Maynard embarked on a mission to introduce an "End of Life" bill in California.

Capping a movement begun by a California woman dying of brain cancer, the so-called “ Right to Die” bill made it to the governor’s desk and was signed by him this week, his office confirmed to Patch.

Brittany Maynard was forced to move to Oregon and get new medical specialists because California had no law in place to allow her to die with dignity, without the agony and excruciating pain which she would suffer, according to published reports.

Maynard then embarked on a mission to introduce an “End of Life” bill in California, so that no one would have to endure what she was expected to endure.

“I do not know what I would do if I were dying in prolonged and excruciating pain,” Brown wrote in a statement released to the press.

“I am certain however, that it would be a comfort to be able to consider the options afforded by this bill.

“And I wouldn’t deny that right to others.”
