Grammy-Nominated 'Special Consensus' Coming To Pleasanton
Reserved seating is now on sale for the one-night only performance at Firehouse Arts Center.
From Firehouse Arts Center:The band known for their “bluegrass with attitude” returns to the Firehouse Arts Center Theater in downtown Pleasanton. Fresh off their 2019 Grammy Award nomination, The Special Consensus plays the Firehouse on Fri, Jan. 17, at 8 p.m.
Led by Greg Cahill, banjo legend and recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Achievement Award from the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA), Special Consensus has received five awards from the IBMA and two Grammy nominations, among many other honors and accolades. Their most recent album Rivers and Roads, the band’s 19th recording, was nominated for a 2019 Grammy, received five 2018 IBMA nominations, and was awarded the 2018 IBMA Album of the Year. The single 'Squirrel Hunters' was also named 2018 IBMA Instrumental Recorded Performance of the Year.
Boasting a repertoire that features traditional bluegrass standards, original compositions, and songs from various other musical genres performed in bluegrass style, the band is: Greg Cahill (band leader and banjo), Rick Faris (guitar), Dan Eubanks (bass) and Nick Dumas (mandolin).

The Special Consensus has appeared on numerous National Public Radio programs and cable television shows—including The Nashville Network—and have been featured on the cover of the renowned bluegrass publication, Bluegrass Unlimited, three times. They received a standing ovation after their first performance on the Grand Ole Opry stage at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. International tours have brought the band to Australia, Canada, Europe, South America, Ireland and the United Kingdom. The Special Consensus has appeared in concert with symphony orchestras nationwide since the early 90’s.

Reserved seating tickets are $15 - $25. Tickets online at www.firehousearts.org, by calling 925-931-4848, and in person at the Box Office, 4444 Railroad Ave., in downtown Pleasanton. Box Office hours are Wed – Fri noon-6 p.m., Sat 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and two hours prior to performances if not sold out. Free parking available in the center lot, entrance on Spring Street.
