Lanes Reopen Following Chemical Spill On I-580

For the second day in a row, Tri-Valley drivers experienced delays on I-580 in Pleasanton due to a spill.

PLEASANTON, CA — All of the lanes on westbound I-580 at Hacienda Drive have reopened hours after a hazardous materials spill this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. The CHP received reports of a big rig leaking acetone just before 11 a.m., and the CHP issued a Sig-alert for the incident at 11:12 a.m.

CHP Officer Tyler Hahn said the fluid did not spread to any nearby drains and did not affect any wildlife. The toll lane was temporarily opened for all traffic in an attempt to help reduce traffic delays, according to the CHP.

The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department, Dublin Police Services and Caltrans are responded to assist.
