From Heavy Metal to Heavy Hospitality

Stoneridge Creek's Plant Operations Director discusses career in senior living and in music

Ty Kaufman is living the American dream. He has a great job during the day, and rocks out with his band mates at night. It’s those two passions he says that led him to the California area in the first place.

His story started 800 miles away in Washington, where he grew up just outside an Indian reservation. With no electricity in the home, he learned how to entertain himself and his family with music. At 5 years old, his parents bought him a used guitar from the Salvation Army. From that moment on he began learning to play anything that carried a tune.

As he continued on his musical path, he also began another passion of working with the elderly.
