Juanita Haugen Scholarship recipients recognized by School Board
Foothill, Amador Valley and Village students receive scholarships
Juanita Haugen Scholarship recipients of the Pleasanton Community of Character were recognized by the Pleasanton Unified School District board at their April, 2023 meeting. Superintendent David Haglund made the presentations.
The recipients are Tony Wang and Shree Billa of Amador Valley High School, Isaac Gavino and Arian Moghni of Foothill High School and Tyler Dawe of Village High School. (Isaac was unable to attend). Details of their amazing accomplishments are on the Community of Character website (www.CommunityofCharacter.org).
Each of the participants received their scholarship check and a nice certificate for their accomplishment.

These students will be also recognized at the Community of Character Annual Recognition Luncheon, which will be Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 11:30am at the Pleasanton Veterans Hall. Tickets are $45 per person and may be purchased at the Chamber website (www.pleasanton.org).
The scholarship honors the memory of Juanita Haugen, trustee and president of the Pleasanton Unified School Board. Juanita had a passion for the children in the community. She was a leader in the district’s character education program and served as a trustee on school boards in Pleasanton for 28 years. She was the leading proponent for the establishment of Pleasanton’s “Community of Character Collaborative” (CCC).

The scholarship honors a student from the High Schools of the Pleasanton Unified School District who exemplifies the character traits of the Community of Character Collaborative through example and service.
