Lamentation Over Proposed Changes to Foothill High Choir Program May Be for Naught
School officials say students will still have access to participate in the choir program.

PLEASANTON, CA: Inaccurate information about possible changes to the 2016/17 choir program at Foothill High in Pleasanton likely fueled a recent online petition, school district officials said.
District officials told Patch the initial reduction of courses was due to the number of student sign-ups as opposed to cutbacks.

As rumors of the proposed changes spread, student Danny Hanna garnered 1400 signatures on a petition to keep the current program, and the number of choir classes offered, in place. The petition spread like wildfire via social media.
Officials say the schedule has not yet been finalized and released the following statement about the choir program:

Unfortunately, some of our students received incorrect information about Foothill's choir program next year. Foothill administration has met with the students to clarify where they are in the master schedule process, which is still a work in progress and a final decision on allocations of sections has not been made. These decisions are made based on student sign ups.
All students have access to participate in our choir program. While class sizes are not ideal at this time, the opportunity to perform and participate have not been affected. It is our intent to keep the Choral Program at Foothill High School strong, and we may be able to provide another section to accommodate student sign ups. However, at the moment, it is undetermined.
Hanna has not yet been reached for comment.
