Letter to Editor: Resident Asks Community to Vote Yes on Measure K

Pleasanton resident Mark Priscaro says voting no rejects a fair compromise for all. What do you think?

Dear Editor,

The No on Measure K campaign to reject the approved Lund Ranch II housing project, located in a valley in southeastern Pleasanton, is one of repeated false statements. Opponents claim that homes are being built on hillsides, and promote other false claims on their website, mailers and ads.

They are counting on all that to scare enough voters into ignoring the facts/truth. One claim is the project violates Measure PP. The co-authors of Measure PP have both made public statements that prove that is false. What No on K supporters really care about is satisfying their own NIMBYism by routing all project traffic through neighborhoods other than their own.

Voting no rejects a fair compromise for ALL, and instead, supports this selfishness, rejecting the preservation of 174 acres of hillsides and ridges (90 percent of the project area) from ANY future development and not allowing ALL Pleasantonians to enjoy them as PUBLIC open space—all because opponents don’t want traffic to 31 of the homes via THEIR neighborhoods.

Remember the proposed Home Depot at Bernal and Stanley? That was rejected, and look what ALL of us got INSTEAD—over 300 ‘stack ‘n pack’ apartments and a big, multi-store retail center. What could have been up to as many as 150 homes has been reduced to 43, all located in a valley, on flat land, honoring Measure PP.
