Livermore Police Warn Parking in Front of Fire Hydrants is Illegal

Park near a hydrant and you may get a $70 ticket.

Police officials in Livermore want to remind drivers that parking in front of a fire hydrant is illegal. Livermore currently has red, purple and yellow hydrants throughout the city.

According to a statement issued by police, “No person shall stop, park, or leave standing any vehicle within 15 feet of a fire hydrant except if the vehicle is attended by a licensed driver who is seated in the front seat and who can immediately move such vehicle in case of necessity.”

Police say the curb near the hydrant does not need to be painted red in order for a parking violation to occur.
