Samir Ramanathan has passed the Board of Review and has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He resides in Livermore, California and his parents are Sridhar Ramanathan and Gina Saldanha. His Eagle Court of Honor will be held in April.

Samir is a member of Troop 924, sponsored by American Legion Post 237 Pleasanton, where he was Senior Patrol Leader (2018-2019) of the troop, consisting of over 85 boys. He is a senior at The Quarry Lane School in Dublin, where he was a Bronze and Silver award winner in the National Spanish Honors Exam. He is on the school Robotics team which has won regional tournaments and went to the national competition. Samir has also earned a black belt in Karate.

Samir has applied to universities and plans on a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. His passion for leadership makes him interested in a master’s degree later, and in developing a career as an engineering manager. He loves leading teams, building things, coaching others, and bringing the best out in others as they work towards a common goal. At some point, Samir envisions starting his own technology company where he can bring his vision to reality.

For his Eagle Scout community project, Samir constructed and painted redwood picnic benches for the Taylor Family Foundation, a non-profit organization in Livermore dedicated to providing camping experiences for children with disabilities. He led a group of 25 scouts to plan and execute the project, assigned project leaders to take on specific tasks, and guided the overall success of the project. Samir also raised funds to cover the cost of all the supplies needed to assemble and paint the benches. He raised over $1,500, more than was needed, and donated the extra funds to the Taylor Family Foundation.

He has extensive community service including visiting the Livermore Veterans Association Hospital at Christmas and Thanksgiving, visiting Livermore convalescent homes, working on Valley Montessori School beautification projects, participating as a member of the Quarry Lane Acts of Random Kindness club, helping build park benches at the Curry Canyon Ranch Park, participating in beach and creek cleanups, and participating each year in Food drives.
