Lunar New Year Celebration: Gung Hay Fat Choy!
Hundreds of school children are expected to attend the celebration.

Gung Hay Fat Choy! It’s the Lunar New Year and we’re entering the Year of the Monkey which, “according to Chinese Horoscope: the characteristics of people born in the Year of the Monkey are curiosity, mischievousness, and cleverness. When it comes to work, the Monkey can do just about anything; they adapt well to changing environment and they are intelligent.”
The 11th Annual Lunar New Year celebration will be held today at the Lincoln Neighborhood Center. It begins at 10:30 and runs all the way to 1 p.m. Entertainment will include lion dancing, a Kung Fu exhibition, Korean singing, magic performance, cultural dancing and more.
The Lincoln Neighborhood Center is located at 250-10th Street, in Oakland.

This special event is hosted by Alameda County Supervisor Keith Carson, the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and the Asian Community Collaborative.
