Main Street 'Ghost Walk' Goes Virtual For 2020 In Pleasanton
The annual, Halloween event still will take you on a spooky tour of legendary, local haunts -- just in a different format.
PLEASANTON, CA — The Museum on Main is taking its annual, Halloween "Ghost Walk" tour of Pleasanton's Main Street to a virtual format this year, due to coronavirus-related restrictions.
The 2020 event will be Oct. 16-17, 23-24 and 31, with two "ghosts hosts" leading Zoom participants along an online tour of downtown Pleasanton's most haunted locales, complete with "ghosts" portrayed by professional actors.
“This family-friendly tour, held for over 13 years, is a staple of the Halloween season, and we can't wait to bring it to you in the comfort of your home," said Sarah Schaefer, the museum's director of education. "Although this year will be a little bit different because of Covid-19, we still expect our virtual Ghost Walk to be a popular event, so we are recommending you get your tickets now.”

To get participants in the spooky spirit, ticket buyers also will also be emailed a Ghost Walk companion e-book with recipes for spooky snacks and Halloween-themed cocktails and mocktails, along with tidbits of the Ghost Walk history and tips for ghost hunters.
For more than a decade, Pleasanton's Ghost Walk — more spooky than scary — has brought to life the town's haunted side through stories and experiences collected from psychics, ghost hunters, and shop workers over the years.

“It’s not a haunted house-type of program where people jump out to scare you," Schaefer said. "This has been true of our in-person Ghost Walk and will continue to be true this year, when the Ghost Walk is virtual on Zoom.”
Ghost Walk tickets are for sale online here at $15 "per screen," and are not transferable to multiple screens. They also are non-refundable as the event is virtual — meaning "tours happen rain or shine," organizers said. Tours begin at 7 p.m., and Zoom invites will be sent to ticket buyers' email addresses.
In early November, museum directors are planning a more in-depth, ghost-hunting experience, again in a virtual format, with local ghost hunters leading investigations of downtown's haunted hot-spots. Check in with the organization's Facebook page for updates.
The Museum on Main, at 603 Main St. in downtown Pleasanton, currently is closed to the public due to Covid-19. For more information about virtual programs, visit the museum’s website or call (925) 462-2766.
