The 40-year-old eventually was stopped, but gave a false name to officers, police said.

PLEASANTON, CA – After allegedly tossing his backpack over a fence and walking away from officers on Monday, a 40-year-old man was cited for various crimes at Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area in Pleasanton, according to police.

Pleasanton police shortly after 10 a.m. attempted to speak with the man, identified as Nathan Runley, who was on Stanley Boulevard outside Shadow Cliffs, the department said today. Ignoring commands to stop, police said the man threw the backpack he was carrying over a fence and walked into the park.

Officers retrieved the backpack, reportedly containing a glass pipe, and eventually stopped and questioned the man, who initially gave a fake name to police, the agency said. Runley, on probation, was cited for suspected possession of drug paraphernalia, giving false information and resisting/delaying/obstructing law enforcement, police said.
