At Least 18 Pleasanton Businesses Smashed Up in Massive Overnight Burglary Spree Bay Area Telegraph (bayareatelegraph.com) — Pleasanton residents woke up to learn that at least 18 local businesses, including restaurants and shops at Pacific Pearl, Val Vista and near Santa Rita Road, were hit in a pre-dawn burglary spree. Police say 2026's total commercial burglaries doubled in one night, and they're asking anyone with information to contact Pleasanton PD as the search for suspects continues.
   

2. 55 Pleasanton Students Named 2027 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists (patch.com) — Pleasanton families can celebrate 55 local high school students being named 2027 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, with honorees split between Amador Valley and Foothill. These teens scored in the top 1% nationwide on the PSAT, putting them in the running for scholarships that can significantly offset future college costs.
   

3. Dussehra Diwali Dhamaka: Festival of Lights (nbcbayarea.com) — Pleasanton residents can look forward to a huge Dussehra Diwali Dhamaka celebration at the Alameda County Fairgrounds on October 17, featuring Ravan Dahan, live fireworks, Bollywood performances, Dandiya, and over 150 food and shopping vendors. Running from noon to 11 p.m., the family-friendly festival will include carnival rides and a kids zone, with online general admission starting at $12 and children 5 and under free.
   

4. 'A lot of reflection': Tri-Valley prepares to mark 25 years since 9/11 (danvillesanramon.com) — Pleasanton will host two key 25th-anniversary 9/11 remembrances on Friday, including a county ceremony at the Alameda County Fairgrounds amphitheater from 9–11 a.m. and a Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department event at the Nevada Street firehouse starting at 9:45 a.m. Local veterans, officials, and community members will share reflections aimed at preserving memories of 9/11 and strengthening unity across the Tri-Valley.
