Man Wanted After Wild Car Chase Through Pleasanton

Police said the Fremont man crashed into a downed tree on Sunol Road before fleeing the area on foot.

PLEASANTON, CA — Police are searching for a man who allegedly lead officers on a wild pursuit through Pleasanton early Tuesday morning. Officers tried to stop a blue 2005 Hyundai Elantra spotted driving through a neighborhood on First Street at about 3:20 a.m. The driver, later identified as 31-year-old Fremont resident Marquice McClinton, stopped near the corner of First and Abbie streets, got out of his car and approached officers.

"The suspect’s hands were hidden inside his clothing and refused orders to show his hands by the officer," police said in a statement. "The officer drew his weapon and the suspect immediately returned to his vehicle and sped off."

Police chased McClinton down Sunol Boulevard past Interstate 680. McClinton, unable to avoid hitting a large downed tree blocking the road, crashed and ran to some nearby bushes along the road. Police said McClinton was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. Police searched the area but were unable to find McClinton, who is wanted on suspicion of felony evasion.
