Mystery Phone Calls Plaguing Residents Are Not from the City
Automated phone calls, coming across as "City of Pleasanton," woke people in the middle of the night.

Many residents received automated phone calls with a caller ID of “City of Pleasanton 931-5425” starting about 2 p.m. Monday and continuing through the night and into Tuesday morning.
One Patch reader said she received a call about 5 a.m.
City spokesperson Joanne Hall, who received a call, said Pleasanton's phone vendor has determined that these calls are not originating from the city's telephone equipment.

However, the source of the calls is not yet known and AT&T, city personnel and the city’s private phone maintenance company are working to identify it, Hall said.
"The City of Pleasanton apologizes for any inconvenience this has caused residents, and we are working closely with AT&T to resolve the problem," Hall said.

She said the first calls started coming in Monday afternoon, but because they are not being generated by the city and the city has no control over them, it's hard to know if they're still happening.
"However, I can tell you that the calls from residents have tapered off in the past few hours," Hall said.
