One Nation Dream Makers receives fourth Semi-Trailer Truck of Food

The mission is to bring nutritious food to all individuals and families in need.

One Nation Dream Makers is a Food Pantry, located in the old firehouse on College Avenue in Livermore. Ronnie Forbes was a Korean War Veteran, who suffered from PTSD, drug and alcohol addictions, was in and out of jail, but the Lord told him he was to serve him. Ronnie started to volunteer at the same food lines he used to stand in, today he runs his own food bank in Livermore. This year, he ran the warming center for the homeless in Livermore and will soon start feeding the elderly at Ridgeview Commons in Pleasanton. (see his story at www.OneNationDreamMakers.org) Ronnie is currently the Commander of the Livermore VFW.

His food bank does food rescue from local retailers, like Costco and Grocery Outlet. They sort it and re-box it and deliver the boxes to local people in need, low-income housing, homeless and others.

The food truck was delivered on Tuesday, Oct 3rd had 24 pallets of food weighing approximately 40,000 pounds with pallets of corn, black beans, peaches, spaghetti, flour, macaroni, rice, rolled oats, cocoa mix, milk, and other items. One Nation Dream Makers shares the food with other local food pantries, such as: Tri-Valley Haven in Livermore, St. Raymond and Hively, both in Dublin. This was the fourth semi-trailer received this year.

Sandee Munroe, Operations Director stated her gratitude for the additional shipment, “This extra 120,000 pounds of food this year allows us to distribute an extra 10,000 pounds per month to over 30 locations, over 10,000 persons. My favorite thing about the food we distribute from you is that ALL your products say, "Lovingly Distributed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints".”

The truck is part of the Surplus Food program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which has their own farms, canneries, dairies, and other processing plants. When there is surplus in their storage warehouses, it is shared with food pantries and to disaster areas.

Ronnie was excited at the delivery, “We thank God … for providing a timely delivery of incredible food to increase our ability to do more for more of our community troops that are in big time need. This is awesome”.
